Clicking Enter Chart on the main workpool details page brings up this two-tabbed popup.
The second tab, Data Entry, allows the user to enter create a new chart from scratch. By default, a generic inpatient chart is created using the default ICD-9 financial class. By changing the service type the user can create an outpatient encounter.
Important:
Changing the financial class will change the coding type as well as reimbursement calculations for the chart depending on how the financial class is set up. Therefore, if the coder wishes to create an ICD-10 chart, he or she must change the Financial Class selection to a previously created ICD-10 financial class or create a new ICD-10 financial class for the facility.
